You’re website feels stuck. It hasn’t worked for your business in a long time.
So naturally, you’re thinking about scrapping it and starting over.
But before you do…
Start with an audit.
A redesign can absolutely be worth the investment.
But even when your website feels like it isn’t working anymore, there might still be opportunities to improve.
So, before you start over, figure out what’s not working and see what you can do to fix it.
Ask yourself these five questions:
1. What is already working?
Don’t throw away good content, strong SEO, useful pages, or features your customers actually use.
2. What’s frustrating you?
Is it really the design? Or is it difficult navigation, outdated content, poor organization, or something else?
3. What’s frustrating your customers?
Think about the questions people frequently ask and the problems they encounter. Then figure out how you can address these issues.
4. What has changed in your business?
Your new website should be designed for the business you have now, not the one you had five years ago.
5. What does the new website need to accomplish?
More inquiries? More sales? Better search visibility? Easier maintenance? A clearer customer journey?
A redesign without strategy will only get you a flashier website with the same problems.
That’s why I always recommend starting with a quick self audit before tackle a major redesign project.
My Website Wellness Check gives you a structured way to evaluate your current website before you decide what to do.
Maybe you need a redesign.
But you might not.
Get clear on the problem before you invest the time and money into any solution.
